Overview & Features

Create increased opportunities for peer interaction and self-directed engagement with course materials.

CLAS provides an opportunity for transformative student learning by allowing learners to engage with their peers around course content and become more independent in annotating, commenting, and asking questions regarding course materials. Instructors can customize different levels of access and engagement based on their needs, while facilitating student feedback and discussions. Studies indicate CLAS can broaden the educational experience of students by promoting collaborative peer learning, as well as the development of self-directed skills including motivation, self-management, and self-monitoring.

How does CLAS work?

CLAS is a web-based system that integrates video playback, time-based annotation and commenting, recording, and media management all combined into one application. Students are able to manage their personal annotations and notes to promote self-directed study, while at the same time engaging in social commenting and discussion with their classmates to encourage peer learning. Record and Upload

Record and upload.

Capture video directly through CLAS or simply upload your videos and slides. Instructors can customize different levels of access and availability of features, based on their needs.

Capture your thoughts.

Students can flag important points in a video and attach comments or questions with a click of a button.

Discuss and Engage!

CLAS creates a collaborative space by allowing students to share their annotations, creating opportunities for peer review and instructor feedback.

Learn and gain insight.

Learners are able to assess their level of understanding by comparing their own annotations against those of their peers. Instructors can determine whether students understand the materials and make informed decisions about their teaching practices.

How can CLAS help me?

CLAS can be a useful tool for instructors to provide critical feedback to students. It can also help instructors identify gaps in the learning process and the level of understanding students have on the core concept being presented. In this way, the instructor can make any necessary refinements of the lecture material.
